Progress is made
June 26, 2008
I, Briony Williamson, being of sound body (certainly not mind) do solemnly declare that I will be gainfully unemployed in 4 weeks and one day.
Am bloody stoked about it too. After being rejected for promotion #4 last Friday I decided that really I would rather poke myself in the eye repeatedly with a fork while watching Maid in Manhattan than work here anymore and promptly resigned.
General huzzah!
In other news, I finally got the courage to read the responses to the first 1000 words of my work in progress…and it was all good! Should not really be suprised, as I am my worst critic, and hate letting anyone read anything that I write, even when it is good. In the creative writing class I did in year 12 I had to hand in 6 poems for assessment the first day back after the holidays. Stayed up the night before scribbling madly, reluctantly handed them in and spontaneously combusted when my teacher wanted to publish one in the school newsletter. (I didn’t let her – and I maintain that the poem was, in fact, shite).
That said, am feeling much better about Homer Scream now. Will have to give it a proper name eventually, but probably only when I stop hearing the noise when I think about it.
Seas would rise when I gave the word…

Adventures at the Psychic Expo
June 11, 2008
The Mind Body & Spirit expo was fun….oh what a wacky world Melbourne can be sometimes.
1. I had my aura photo taken – and FYI, my aura is red and orange. Think it comes from spending too much time in Pyro Beach
2. I had my astrology chart done, in which it was discovered that I am a midly irritating know-it-all, who blurts out the first thing that comes into my head…which so far noone has disagreed with.
3. I had my tarot cards read. And apparently I am most likely going to meet my future husband (who already has two kids) at my ten year reunion in November. My mother and I both agree that CLEARLY someone who may or may not have been my grandmother has paid off my psychic, as there is a better chance I will meet my future husband at the Collingwood cheer squad meeting than at the reunion.
One thing I did learn while I was at the expo is that there is a Shakespearian tarot deck, with Prospero as the Magician, and Romeo and Juliet as the lovers. I wants it precious! Although sadly it appears to be out of print, and the one deck that was on Amazon was around $80.
Have become completely addicted to the Absolute Write forums, and have spent most of the day on there being inspired, which has been much more fun than answering emails about shareholdings from the 1960s. Have also become completely addicted to my new quilt, which was a birthday present from my parents and as soon as woman-doona marriages are legalised you are most welcome to attend.

The working title of whatever it is that I am working on now is ‘Homer Scream’. As in that is the noise in my head whenever I start thinking about it. That said, there is a very slight possibility that this could all work out okay. I am quite entertained by the story in my head, I’m just hoping it will work that way when it gets typed.
Have successfully been 25 for a whole week and a bit now which is pleasing. Had yummy Thai food at a place in East Brunswick, accompanied by fruity lexia in a bottle (had no idea such things existed. Is ridiculous attempt to disguise said wine as something classy and refined, as opposed to what it actually is: something you buy in a box for $12 when you are 19 and can’t afford anything else).
Am enjoying the long weekend immensely, mainly because I know there won’t be another one until November, and that one I will have to work. Finally watched Back to the Future which was well overdue, and also watched the latest Indiana Jones movie, which I enjoyed but it didn’t make me explode with the awesomeness of it like the third one did.
Am off to the Mind Body Spirit expo this afternoon to have my fortune read. Here’s to finding out I am going to be a multi-squillionaire in the not too distant future.
