Look at my snazzy new blog
July 7, 2008
Have decided to swap to WordPress, as is much more bright and shiny than blogger, and provides much more opportunities to procrastinate at work (huzzah!)
For posterity, the old blog was here.
Moving on.
While I was sick on the weekend (well, was sick for all of last week, but the weekend was the first time I could open my eyes without screaming IT BURNS US, Gollum style) I finally read To Kill A Mockingbird – or as its known in my house Tequilla Mockingbird, because I can’t help it if Mum mumbles on the phone. It’s one of those books that I’ve been meaning to read for ages, if only to stop the “But I thought you studied English at uni” type comments. (Which I did by the way thank you! I challenge you to a Shakespearian duel! I will wipe the floor with…well, actually I probably wouldn’t).
ANYWAY.
I absolutely loved To Kill A Mockingbird. It’s so well written, and kind of reminded me of Ivan Denisovich in that at the end you are left with hope, and that even the tiniest little bit of hope is still hope. I’m so glad I finally got to read it. Now I’m re-reading The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins, just because it seemed like that kind of a week. I started reading The Shipping News but I think I’m going to need a runup before tackling that one. I also need to reread Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, just because.
And, y’know, work on that novel.
YES! I love To Kill A Mockingbird, I’m totally thrilled to teach it someday in the not so distant future. glad to see you’re still up and running and nearing 5k, mayhaps I will switch operations over here too… who knows though.
